Official sources told APP here on Sunday that Sialkot district government was spending Rs 40.2 million during the current fiscal year on the improvement of irrigation system, obtaining of new agricultural technology and purchasing of laser land levelling machinery.
In addition to this, as many as 66 watercourses would be completed in canal and Barani areas of the district and more than Rs 110.1 million have been earmarked for the completion of new and ongoing schemes pertaining to farm-to-market roads and inter-district roads, sources said.
This step has been taken for improving the means of communication system as well as to enable the farmers to bring their produce to the nearest Mandi towns, sources added.
